A story about the Berlin CSD

The sun shone brightly over Berlin as the streets filled with a rainbow of colors, sounds and smiling faces. It was Christopher Street Day, and the city pulsated with an energy that was both celebratory and combative.

At the heart of it all was a group of friends who gathered every year for this special occasion. There was Maria, the activist who had been fighting for queer rights for years. And Jonas, the artist who created the most dazzling costumes. And then there was Ben, who was new to the city and experiencing Pride for the first time.

As the parade began, Ben marveled at the diversity and pride that filled the streets. Floats with loud music, dancing people in all the colors of the rainbow, and signs with powerful messages. Maria told him about the history of Christopher Street Day, the Stonewall riots in New York, and the fight for equality that was also waged in Berlin.

Jonas, completely in his element, danced with strangers as if they were old friends. He explained to Ben that Christopher Street Day (CSD) wasn't just a celebration, but also an important political statement. "We're showing that we're here, that we're diverse, and that we won't be intimidated," he shouted over the loud music.

In the evening, as the parade drew to a close and dusk fell over the city, the friends stood at the Brandenburg Gate. Before them, the monument glowed in the colors of the rainbow. Ben was overwhelmed by the day's experiences. He had witnessed not just a party, but a demonstration of love, acceptance, and courage.

„I now understand why Pride is so important,“ he told his friends. „It’s more than just a celebration. It’s a fight for a world where everyone can be themselves.“

Maria smiled and placed a hand on his shoulder. "Welcome to our family, Ben. And welcome to the CSD."„
